It is the goal of Boys’ Camp to promote independence, spirit, individual interests, competence, and pride, all while having fun in a happy and healthy camp environment near Bergen County, NJ. Here is where our boys “unplug” and spend their day “gaming” on the soccer field, or in our Discovery Science center, building something new in Woodworking, or even in our Adventure Challenge areas. They experience healthy competition, learn how to work co-operatively with others and explore leadership skills. These are great steppingstones to a positive future as a teenager and young adult!
The group size of our Boys’ camp averages 14-16 campers with 3 mature counselors per group. They are supervised by a Division Leader who oversees specific age groups’ campers and counselors as well as by the Head of Boys’ Camp who oversees and supervises all the group leaders, the Boys’ Camp staff, and the campers.
Our Girls’ Camp near Bergen County, NJ, personifies SLDC spirit every day of the week! It promotes personal interests, forever friendships, independence, self-confidence, and pride, all with never ending positive energy. SLDC offers a happy, fun, and caring environment for our older girls, enhancing their social and developmental skills while they mature at their own individual pace. Here is where our older campers can “unplug” and leave technology and impersonal communication at home. Our SLDC girls learn that it is personal values and progress that are more important than perfection, that they can build resiliency and be proud of who they are on the inside and not just on the outside.
